How to Become a Christian
1 Hear the Word
- Lk. 9:35: And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying,
This is my beloved Son: hear him.
Lk. 11:28: But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word
of God, and keep it.
2 Believe the Word
- Mk. 16:16: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he
that believeth not shall be damned.
Jn. 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Jn. 2:22: When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples
remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture,
and the word which Jesus had said.
Jn. 3:15: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
eternal life.
Jn. 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life.
Jn. 3:36: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that
believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on
him.
Rom. 10:10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with
the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
3 Repent
- Mk. 1:15: And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom
of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Acts 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
4 Confess Jesus
Mt. 10:32: Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him
will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Lk. 12:8: Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him
shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
Rom. 10:9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt
be saved.
Rom. 10:10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation.
5 Baptized for the Remission of Sins
Mk. 1:4: John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of
repentance for the remission of sins.
Mk. 16:16: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that
believeth not shall be damned.
Acts 2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one
of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2:41: Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the
same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 8:12: But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning
the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men
and women.
Acts 8:13: Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he
continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were
done.
Acts 10:48: And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.
Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
6 Continue in His Teachings
Jn. 8:31: Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye
continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Jn. 15:9: As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in
my love.
Acts 1:14: These all continued with one accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his
brethren.
Acts 2:42: And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 8:13: Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he
continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were
done.
Acts 13:43: Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and
religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them,
persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
Acts 14:22: Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to
continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the
kingdom of God.
Acts 15:35: Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and
preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
Acts 18:11: And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the
word of God among them.
Acts 19:10: And this continued by the space of two years; so that all
they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
Acts 20:7: And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came
together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow;
and continued his speech until midnight.
Rom. 11:22: Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them
which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his
goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Col. 1:23-28
23: If ye continue in the faith
grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which
ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven;
whereof I Paul am made a minister;
24: Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is
behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is
the church:
25: Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God
which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26: Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations,
but now is made manifest to his saints:
27: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all
wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
1Tm. 4:16: Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in
them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
